  • The photo was taken by me on the Music Festival "Project OASIS 2024" held by the Arts Centre of Shanghai Jiao Tong University at the Minhang Campus, just beside ECNU, where I was studying for my MA degree.

It was indeed a large event, at least, to university students. Before my enrollment into the ECNU, I thought the diversity and scale of student activities would certainly go up as the ranking of the university got higher. However, this hypothesis turned out to be incorrect. There is not even a proper indoor venue for large-scale performances. I was frustrated by not only the fact that the largest space is a lecture theatre with only regular illumination and no backstages, but also the reality that the management does not permit sponsorship and somehow holds objection against students' organising large-scale events. There was not even an "arts centre". I joined the Guitar Association but there were just small-scale activities, as well. And that may explain my seeking to study at a more specialised institution abroad.

Back in my undergraduate period, the atmosphere was better with different activities, both sponsored and spontaneous, going on from time to time. I was a member of the Arts and Aethestic Education Centre of ZUEL and the Arts and Cultural Centre of the School of Foreign Studies. Having experienced the close collaboration with my peers and the sense of achievement of accomplishing a splendid cultural event, I came to realise that I was in love with this type of work. Therefore, I attempted to go for something bigger, a fellowship music festival with bands and singers from universities across the metropolis of Shanghai. I assembled a team, entered into collaboration with clubs from ten universities, most of which were well known across China, and got the consent of the management. Just as I was about to launch the promotion, Monbage (you may refer to the Internship page) contacted me and expressed willingness of cooperation. They were invited by the East Lake Scenic Area, located in the centre of Wuhan, to hold a music festival of university students there. I was excited and overjoyed and agreed to partner with them...

Then, as you may know, the COVID got worse as it went global, and Wuhan was at the centre of the disaster and the frontline of the battle for life.

Everything was halted, no exception. And the plan became but a broken dream.

  • How it started.

  • The Campus Television of Nanning No.2 High School was where it all started, perhaps.

To put it simply, I had the opportunity to engage in many cultural events which were possibly top-level among high school students in the province. Orginisation, execution, live streaming, video production, photography, they were all part of our work. As for the largest event, you may refer to the Extracurricular page.

  • To start my career.

  • I have realised I must not miss any opportunities since I won't have another chance to switch my major after my graduation in 2026. I was always hesitating and pondering, dared not to take that step. Yet I am truly passionate about it, something that can make people laugh, shout, sing, and impres them with endless aftertaste. I enjoyed the whole process as the audience immerse in something I created. And it has not to be silent, but loud, splendid, and well-known.

And I am determined that I will not waste this opportunity.

  • Here, my highest respect.
